How it all started...
Mountain Gap Church, located a few miles south of Meansville, Georgia, was founded in 1898 as part of a widespread spiritual revival, primarily among Methodist groups, that occurred across the South and other regions of the country during the 1890s. The main focus of this movement was a return to the foundational principles of Wesleyan Methodism in both faith and practice. Following a significant spiritual awakening at a brush arbor camp meeting in 1907 the Mountain Gap congregation established its identity as Pentecostal in spirit and character. In 1913, it became a local affiliate of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.
How it's Going...
Fast forward more than 125 years, and Mountain Gap Church stands as a vibrant, multigenerational community of faith. With a passionate commitment to nurturing spiritual growth, the church embraces a vision dedicated to "Reaching the next generation of Christ followers." This mission reflects their passion for engaging people and instilling in them the values and teachings of Jesus for generations to come.
Where we are headed...
Pastor John has been the Lead Pastor of Mountain Gap Church since April 2018. When asked about the church's vision, he emphasizes the goal of "Reaching the Next Generation of Christ Followers." He explains that this vision is fulfilled by loving the lost, healing the hurting, equipping believers, and empowering those who are ready to serve. Our mission is to carry on the work that this local church began 125 years ago, as we continue to engage today's culture with the message of Jesus.
